All About Stacking

I've never been one to wear dainty rings, but now that I have found these, I know things are going to change. I love the idea of stacking two or three of these together, mixing it up every day! What do you think? Adios for now, cocktail rings!

What To Wear: Team U.S.A.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics is tomorrow, and I couldn't be more excited!! I am looking forward to celebrating the games this weekend--and of course, planning on incorporating some of these red, white,  & blue pieces into my wardrobe! Did you know that there are more women than men representing the U.S.A. team this year? I heard that on the Today show the other day and thought that was so neat! Which event is your favorite? I would love to hear!

In love with...

I don't know about you, but there is something soo appealing about a designer who creates fabulous pieces of clothing, for so little money! Dorothy Perkins, is my new go-to designer when I am looking for a classic, casual, and affordable dress/skirt. I have been perusing her website daily, and somehow manage to end the day with at least 3 things in my cart. (oops?) I highly recommend taking a peek at her site, you won't regret it! Happy Shopping!

Cut Me Out

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate Rose Eva for winning the Kate Spade giveaway! Thank you to all that entered, keep your eye out for my next giveaway!
And now to today's post...

I happen to think that cutouts are so sexy. There is something about a normal dress or shirt with a little bit of skin peaking out. I just love it!

Much Needed Vacay

This past week has been tough, but I have also learned so many valuable lessons that will last a lifetime.  I have realized how many special friends I have back in Dallas, who have supported me and been there for me as I try and fathom the idea of not going back to SMU in the fall. Although it has truly been a devastating decision, I know it will be what is best for my family. With that being said, I am taking a much needed vacation and headed to the beach in San Diego to spend some quality time with one of my best friends who I will miss dearly during the school year. Therefore, my blogging time will be limited! But, while I am gone, hopefully my creative juices will start to flow once again. Don't forget to enter my giveaway too...winner will be announced next Tuesday!

Meet SideSmileStyle

Ashley is the epitome of a fashionista. With her daily outfit posts, she never seems to disappoint her readers. Not only does she have an eye for design and color, but I happen to think she has some of the best pieces of jewelry, I can't even imagine what her jewelry box must look like at home! I have gotten the pleasure to connect with Ashley via the blogging world over the past few months, and knew I had to share her adorable blog, SideSmileStyle. I was also lucky enough to ask her a few questions--take a peek!

What is your one unexpected go-to item in your closet? I don't know about unexpected, but I've gotten a lot of mileage out of my button down denim shirt from H&M. It's my go-to for mixing up an outfit.

What do you predict to be the trend of the fall? I'm predicting that the Great Gatsby will be a big influence on fall fashion. I've always been mesmerized by the fashions of the 1920's, and can't wait to introduce a little Daisy Buchanan into my wardrobe!

What's one piece of clothing or accessory that you could never go without? I have a scroll heart ring I got from Alex Monroe. I wear it every day and feel completely naked without it. I love jewelry that puts a smile on your face when you look at it. Ick, just grossed myself out, but I really do love that stupid ring. Haha!

How would you define your style in 3 words? You tell me! Haha just kidding! I'd have to say Classic, Quirky, and Fun!

What's your favorite current trend? I can't get enough of neon right now! It's just such a fun trend. I may look back in 10 years and think, "hello traffic cone!" but right now I just love it. OH! and arm parties...I'm all about the arm parties, the Man Repeller really tapped into something amazing with that one.

Where do you find inspiration for your outfits? I watched a lot of classic movies and musicals when I was little. Singing in the Rain, Breakfast at Tiffany's, It Happened One Night, Funny Face--more times than not these early influences slip into my everyday wardrobe. I also get a lot of inspiration from magazines, other bloggers, and of course...Pinterest.

What inspired you to start your own blog? I've been reading different style blogs for years (the usual suspects: Atlantic Pacific, Into the Gloss, Cupcakes and Cashmere) and one day I just decided to go for it! It's been really great having a creative outlet and connecting with so many like-minded fashion girls.

Thank you so much Ashley for taking the time to answer a few questions for me!
Be sure to check out her blog here

DIY: Rustic Flower Vases

After many rounds of Scategories, and several bottles of wine--we woke up to the corks and bottles on the kitchen counter. I knew I had to come up with something creative to do with all of these bottles, so what's better than turning them into some DIY flower vases?!

I thought Sunflowers would be the perfect flower to place in these vases. It's adds to the look of our rustic kitchen!

The perfect centerpiece for our family dinner!

Bar Carts

It seems to me that bar carts are no longer something to store your liquer, but now similar to a piece of furniture in a room. I love looking at images of bar carts...I could look at them all day. Some of them are so fabulous--I just wish I had my own home to have one! One day...

In love with this one

The perfect Handbag

This is my ideal summer outfit, this skirt adds the perfect touch of color and I love that it has a bit of a mullet vibe to it. And where do I even begin about the handbag...I die every time I see it. It is my grandmother's, isn't it beautiful?

All Summer Long

Last week, Isabel and I went to the Miranda Lambert concert and had so much fun! She pulled out her cowboy boots (mine are still in Dallas, unfortunately) and we grabbed a blanket to sit on the lawn as we watched the beautiful sun set before she came on stage. I was obsessed with Isabel's outfit so had to take a few snapshots. Take a peek!

Snail Mail

I don't know about you, but there is something so special about receiving a handwritten letter. Everyone is so wrapped up in Facebook, twitter, and email that sending a letter snail mail is no longer a thought. Stamps are the perfect touch to add a little twist to that thank you note or just a simple Hello letter.

All you need: colored card stock, various stamps and inks. {you don't even need to send it in an envelope with card stock, just place a stamp and address on the back and you are set to go!}
