NYE Decor {DIY style}

This year my New Year's plans are a little different and I am so looking forward to it. My boyfriend and I are driving up to San Diego for a few days, and I can't wait! There will definitely be a lot of lounging and reading on the beach! Since I won't be going all out for New Year's this year I thought I would share some of my favorite DIY projects that I bookmarked just in case plans changed. essie nail salon: nyc

It was every girl's dream. When I read in Vogue a few months ago that NYC was going to have its very own essie salon, I was sold. I have a serious addiction to essie nail polishes (I pick one up every time I make a trip to Walgreen's), and when there were over 600+ choices to get a manicure from...let's just say I had a mini anxiety attack. I ended up getting Good as Gold on all but my index finger which was solely gold sparkles. I thought it would be the perfect holiday manicure, and hopefully it will last me through New Year's Eve.

Mixed Prints: Leopard + Hearts

I just got back from New York a few days ago and it was a perfect trip. There's something so special about New York during the holidays. These pictures were taken in the meatpacking district after brunch at The Standard, which I highly recommend! (Not to mention the photo booth, which was put to good use!)

New York, New York

I am off to NYC for a few days and I can't wait! Literally squirming every time I think about it! I am surprising my best friend for her 21st (eek!) and finishing up my last minute holiday shopping. We also have reservations for The Standard (which I have heard so much about--can't wait to try!) and Buddakan. I'll keep you posted with pics and updates while I am there! Twinkle Toes: Winter Sock Guide

Now that boot season is in full swing, socks are high on my shopping list! I love wearing my boots with a fun pair of socks underneath, these J.Crew ones have me sold! Deck The Halls

Remember when I first got these jars and decorated for Halloween? (post here) Well, of course I had to fill them for the holidays! It is so nice to have a little holiday cheer around my apartment. And aren't those stockings fab? I am borrowing them from my mom for a few weeks--she has the whole set and our Christmas tree at home is decorated entirely with their ornaments (Krinkles). How did you decorate this season?

Holiday Gift Guide: For your Mom

There's nothing quite like holiday shopping, especially for your mama. Which is why this is the first holiday gift guide (of many to come!) Secret Sandy

One thing that I love about the holidays is that is the season for sharing and giving back. I had been searching for a charity to donate to this holiday season, and when my dear friend told me about Secret Sandy, I was sold! Secret Sandy is a fabulous initiative that reminds us what giving back truly means. Founded by two women, Secret Sandy is a Secret Santa-type site for people who want to donate and purchase presents for children in Sandy-torn areas. Their hope is to spread a little holiday cheer and help those in need.
