DIY: Sweetheart vase

This is definitely one of my favorite DIY projects I have done--not just because of the candy that I got to eat while I was doing it....

All you need are two vases that are different sizes, a bunch of Sweetheart candies, and flowers! Because this is a gift for my mom, I went with tulips (her favorite flower) but any flower would work--I tried to find colors that would look good with the candies. Make sure you use my flower tips (found here) so they will last longer!

Simply drop the candies around the small vase, making sure to fill gaps!

V-Day Gift Guide: For Him

I love to take on the challenge of buying the perfect gift for the guy in my life. I tend to go a little overboard and spoil him, but I just love to see his face when he opens something he loves! I haven't decided what I am going to get him this year, but I am ready to find the perfect gift! I hope this leads you to the right direction, I know for sure you can't go wrong with sports tickets.

2013 Color of the Year: Emerald

When Pantone named Emerald as the Color of the Year for 2013, I was thrilled. I may be biased because Emerald is my birth stone, but I think it is so beautiful. And then I got my daily BaubleBar email (that's how obsessed I am), which had an entire collection "Emerald City." I picked a few of my favorites from this collection, best part? They are all under $40! I currently have all of these in my cart. (NOT okay....) Are you a fan of Emerald? I think it would be great to incorporate in the home too, maybe a pillow here and there? Guest Blogger: Rebecca Marin

I am so excited to have Rebecca from Rebecca Marin on the blog today. Not only does she have an eye for style and design, but her outfits are impeccably put together with style and class. I knew we would get along the first time I met her my freshman year of college! I asked Rebecca what her five life essentials would be--take a peak! 

1. Above all, my family and friends. 

2. Starbucks refreshers - I love the boost of natural energy this tea gives me each morning. 

3. Clarisonic Mia (in pink) - This cleansing system changed my life. Every time I use it, I feel fresh, clean, and better about myself! 

4. Music - Taking time out of my day to sit down and play the guitar or the piano, or listen to music makes me feel relaxed and is a reminder of what makes me happy. 

5. Remembering to shut off my phone and disconnect myself from the online world to focus on myself, who I'm with, and where I am.

There's nothing quite like a classic tweed jacket. This was one of my cyber Monday purchases that I definitely do not regret! The colors are perfect, and I can dress it up for work days or dress it down with jeans for an errand-day like this was!

Fleurs

One of (the many) perks of working at a flower shop is getting the tricks of how to keep fresh flowers last! (and taking home all the extras at the end of the week...) My apartment feels empty at the beginning of the week without fresh flowers on my coffee table...my personal favorites are white hydrangeas and pink peonies! 

Blue

There is something so great about a pair of colored jeans. It has been so warm these past few days, which makes it feel like summer (hence why I pulled out my colored jeans!) I am a firm believer that they can be worn year round and are not solely for spring/summer.

Tomato Basil Soup

It has been cold these past few days in Scottsdale (colder here than Boston....)! How delicious does this tomato basil soup look? I can't wait to make it in my new crock pot! Skull Crazy

When I was in Dallas a few months ago, this skull shirt immediately caught my eye at L.Bartlett (a small boutique in the West Village). I am a big fan of the skull trend, especially the prints from Alexander McQueen. Since I already splurged on the McQueen scarf, I knew it would be unacceptable to splurge on the same print, but in a shirt. Which is why I thought this was a great knockoff...I was pretty proud!

Skin Renewal

I am not one to make New Year's resolutions, but in 2013 I am going to take better care of my skin. I have a skin regimen that I go by day and night, but I think it is time to mix it up a bit and care for not just my face but my lips and the rest of my body. The lip scrub is my absolute favorite, you have to try it! And how could you pass up a little laura mercier body scrub? I also can't wait to try the Mario Badescu Vitamin C drops--I love his products. What is your day-to-day skin regimen?

Hunt for Army Green

I was on the hunt for the perfect army green coat and the search has finally ended! This bad boy was on sale at Gap, so I knew I couldn't pass up! Not to mention my ASOS leopard satchel that I wore with every outfit in NYC--even if the leopard didn't match. Gotta love mixing prints!
